Aston Villa boss Dean Smith was able to rest a number of his Premier League stars as they faced League Two side Crewe Alexandra in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Ten changes were made from the team that picked up their first win of the season against Everton on Friday night, which included debuts for Matt Targett, Marvelous Nakamba and Ezri Konsa.
The latter even managed to open the scoring on his first start for the club by nodding home a loose ball inside the Crewe six-yard box in the fourth minute.
Following the match, the 21-year-old put up this tweet…
Konsa joined the club in a £12m move from Brentford in the summer, where he was originally signed by Smith last year whilst the 48-year-old was still in charge of the west London club.
The 6-foot centre-back has been part of two international triumphs having featured in both the FIFA Under-20 World Cup and the 2018 Toulon Tournament for England.

A number of fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on seeing their new man in action.
Superlatives such as class’ and solid were frequently used to describe the performance from Konsa whilst one supporter claimed he was England’s future.
Another told the 21-year-old to keep it up with a further member of the Villa Park faithful jokingly adding that he was the backup striker we all wanted.
